Affirmations tutorial
An affirmation is a statement, or set of statements, that explains what you want in language that your subconcious mind can understand. Usually it comes from an outside source; such as a hypnotherapist, a physhologist, a friend or a recording.
How to use affirmations?
Since affirmations come from an outside source, they require very litlle mental energy to process, so you can use them in a theta state. Theta is also called the hyper suggestibility state. This tate is where your mind accpets anything you give it, avoiding any mental filters thatb we use to accept or reject ideas. In this state, you can reprogram yound mind by playing recorded tracks filled with worded suggestions.
Healing properties of affirmations
Affirmations can be powerful to treat emotional problems, since visualizing specific emotional solutions can be difficult. For example, feeling guilty, low self-esteem, shyness, etc.
Guidelines to write affirmations
Present Tense
An affirmation are more effective when stated in the present tense. For example; "I now have a wonderful job." Avoid affirming something in the future tense, e.g. "I am going to have a wonderful job" or the results will always be waiting to happen.
Use positives
Create affirmations in the positive terms that you, avoiding negative statements. Affirm what you do want, rather than what you do not want. For example; "I don't want to smoke." This is a negative statement. Rather affirm; "I now enjoy being a nonsmoker." This statement is much more powerful as it is positive and reinforces your desired goal.
Be short and Specific
A short affirmation are easy to say, and have a far greater impact at a subconscious level than those which are long and wordy. Keeping them specific and to the point adds power as the idea is uncluttered by extraneous elements.
Repetition
The importance of repetition cannot be overemphasized. It imprints the affirmation into your subconscious mind.
Be emotional
Get involved, be passionate, use your emotions. Think carefully about the meaning of the words as you repeat them rather than typing or saying them.
Be persistent
Persistence achieves results sooner than practicing affirmations periodically. Successive sessions will have a compounding effect.
Believe in what you say or hear
There is evidence that affirmations that one believes have higher success thatn those that one does not believe in. I you don't, repeat it and keep repeating until you believe it.
Keep it simple
- Write short sentences
- Don't use big words
Impress Yourself
Personalize your affirmation, they must feel right for you. The stronger the feeling an affirmation conveys, the deeper the impression it makes on your mind, and the sooner you will experience positive results.
Visualize
By visualizing your goal your subconscious mind will work for you, behind the scenes, to encourage the manifestation of situations which will ultimately enable your goals to come true. A process of achieving your goals through the application of positive mental images will empower you to create a reality from your desires.
